LSU football quarterback Garrett Nussmeier and center Braelin Moore earned SEC Player of the Week honors after taking down No. 4 Clemson 17-10 on Saturday.
Nussmeier earned the SEC Offensive Player of the Week award, while Braelin Moore earned the SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week award.
Nussmeier completed 28 of his 38 pass attempts to tally 232 yards and a touchdown in the Tigers’ Week 1 victory. He also picked up two first downs with his legs to keep the Tigers driving down the field.
Nussmeier’s touchdown came in the form of an eight-yard pass to Trey’Dez Green, giving LSU a 17-10 lead in the fourth quarter.
Moore was a highly praised transfer from Virginia Tech in the offseason, helping to provide experience to an offensive line that lost four starters to the NFL Draft in April.
He appeared in all 70 of LSU’s offensive snaps while providing blocking for 108 yards of rushing and protection to record 246 passing yards while only allowing one sack to a dominant Clemson defensive line.
LSU now turns its sights to Louisiana Tech to start a three-game stretch at home. LSU and Louisiana Tech kick off at 6:30 p.m. this Saturday in Death Valley.
