LSU Student Government announced its new Tiger Lounge tailgate that will give students a break from the gameday heat.
SG announced a brand new gameday tent debuting on the Parade Ground for the LSU-Florida game Saturday. The tent will have fans, food and non-alcoholic beverages for students. Students must show their Tiger Card upon entry.
The LSU Board of Supervisors presented the idea, and with the help of Student Body President Lavar Henderson and the Division of Student Affairs, it will be ready for Saturday’s game.
“This initiative is to showcase that we are trying to take care of our students on gamedays because it’s hot, people pass out and it’s a way to get away from the stress of tailgating while still being a part of tailgating,” Henderson said.
Henderson and Student Body Vice President Abry Layrisson want to offer the student body a cool getaway from gameday “chaos,” whether it be a place to rest your feet, grab a quick bite or listen to the DJ.
The tent will be open to students from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. There will be a presentation at noon where members of the board and other university leadership. Food provided will include Raising Cane’s, Walk-On’s and other vendors. There will also be free T-shirts.
Acadian Ambulance will be there to provide any necessary medical help, which was donated by a member of the board.
“It is something you guys deserve to enhance your gameday experience,” Henderson said. “It’s about taking care of the issue with the heat and enhancing your game day experience”.
