LSU Campus Life partnered with Kids Around the World to host Tigers Tackle Hunger, a community project that packed 100,000 meals for those in need.
This event took place during LSU’s Family Weekend, when families from across the country came together to participate in various activities on campus with their students.
Over the course of four hours, families were provided with hairnets and gloves to help pack meals for needy families, along with music that turned up the energy.
Regional Director of Mission Advancement at Kids Around the World, Amanda Martell, describes her inspiration for co-hosting the drive.
“When I was a kid, I didn’t know God, I didn’t have food for my family, I grew up without parents, and I was broken, very broken,” Martell said. “And now, [I am] getting to help children through food, through stories, through [planes], like I want to help all kids in all countries around the world,” Martell said.
LSU Campus Life and Kids Around the World ended up reaching their goal of 100,000 packed meals that will be going out to the Baton Rouge community. For updates on the next food drive, visit LSU Campus Life at lsu.edu.
