Thursday morning Israel and Hamas came together to agree on a ceasefire. This agreement ended the war in Gaza that has lasted over two years, with over 67 thousand deaths.
The war started on October 7, 2023 when Hamas attacked Israel, stemming from decades of unresolved conflict in the region and numerous escalating factors. This agreement is part of a 20-point plan to end it, and is currently in phase one.
There are still hostages in Iran that are currently in the hands of President Donald Trump, and will be released back to Israel either Monday or Tuesday.
“We have secured the release of all remaining hostages and they should be released on Monday or Tuesday,” President Trump said. “Getting them is a complicated process. I’d rather not tell you what they have to do to get them.
“There are places you don’t want to be. But we are getting the hostages back on Tuesday; Monday or Tuesday. That’ll be a day of joy.”
Point one of the ceasefire also moves Israeli troops to what President Trump called, “an agreed upon line”. This story is still developing and there will be more as it is released.
