This year’s Fourth of July holiday marks a milestone in the United States’ history. All across the country, citizens in some form will be celebrating the 250th anniversary of American independence.
Of course, residents around East Baton Rouge Parish will be lighting fireworks left and right, but many businesses and organizations will also be setting off their own pyrotechnic displays.
If you are not planning on lighting fireworks in your own backyard, here are the best spots to view the fireworks during this 250th July Fourth celebration around Baton Rouge.
L’Auberge Fireworks Extravaganza
The L’Auberge Casino & Hotel Baton Rouge, located at 777 L’Auberge Ave., is hosting two parties in one with its Fireworks Extravaganza. On the lawn outside of the casino itself, Baton Rouge residents of all ages can enjoy an array of food trucks and live music from local blues musician Jovin Webb from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. with free entry.
Meanwhile, starting at 7 p.m., residents 21 and older can attend the rooftop viewing party, featuring music by DJ Maliboo and Independence Day-themed cocktails for a $40 cover charge.
This party will go on long after the fireworks begin at 9 p.m. over the Mississippi River.
WBRZ’s Fireworks on the Mississippi
Farther down the river, WBRZ’s Fireworks on the Mississippi, a 50-year tradition, will light up Downtown Baton Rouge courtesy of Visit Baton Rouge and WBRZ.
Following the gigantic America 250 on the River Concert, red, white and blue fireworks will brighten the sky across the riverbank at 9 p.m. Your best viewpoint in Downtown Baton Rouge will be the stretch from South Boulevard to Florida Street. You can also watch the livestream through the WBRZ news channel, WBRZ.com or WBRZ’s Facebook page.
Tsunami’s 4th of July Terrace Bash
For an event with dinner and a show, Tsunami Sushi Baton Rouge at 100 Lafayette St. is hosting a 4th of July Terrace Bash from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. On top of its regular dinner service, Tsunami is offering live music by DJ M3OWMIX and a premium high-in-the-sky view of the fireworks on the Mississippi River.
