After over two hours of deliberation, on November 4th, LSU’s Board of Supervisors declared Wade Rousse as the next president of the LSU system. Rousse has currently served as president at McNeese University, where he increased student enrollment for the first time in 14 years.

The Board also chose James Dalton, former Provost at the University of Alabama, as the Executive Vice President and Chancellor of LSU. Dalton was added as an additional applicant just weeks before the decision was made. The idea of creating the chancellor position at LSU came to fruition when Rousse and Dalton allegedly proposed this idea to the Board days prior.

At the press conference held in LSU’s foundation building, both the newly announced president and vice president spoke on different ideas they had to improve both the university’s research efforts and athletic administration in the near future.

“Today, we begin the challenging work of restructuring confidence in the university’s direction. The days of interim titles will come to an end, and in the coming weeks and months, we will thoughtfully put leaders in place who will drive progress, accountability, and share our sense of purpose,” LSU president Wade Rousse said.

They hope to reach a conclusion within the next 30 days regarding specific measures to be taken regarding the hiring of a new football coach.
