The LSU Tigers gymnastics team went up against the Kentucky Wildcats on Friday night in Baton Rouge.
After switching their routine around, LSU gained confidence in their performances. Not only did they show that physically, but the team mentioned that they felt very good about how they came together and cheered each other on.
The team put emphasis on how much the crowd helped support them during their routines. One gymnast that really enjoyed the crowd’s roar was Kailin Chio, who had a great meet with one of her performances having a perfect ten.
“Just trusting the coaches of their decisions left and right. Yes everytime I go out there I want to do my best, but I want to do my best for this team to get us in the right direction every time,” Chio mentioned in a post-game press conference.
Head Coach Jay Clark prepared his team by creating a motto for the week to be “completely free”. LSU really stepped up this week after having difficult away games back-to-back.
After a close meet, LSU ended up defeating the Wildcats with a final score of 198.050-195.775
Let’s see what LSU has in store for their next meet against Missouri next Friday on the road.
