On Sunday afternoon, the LSU Lady Tigers spoke to the media after they defeated Missouri 108-55. This was a very important win because the Tigers are trying to prove themselves in SEC play.
“The comeback, it meant a lot to us. We have to win on the road; you just got to win. I feel like we have to do whatever we need to do to win, and today was one of those days where we still needed the win, but it was more about us. Executing our pace, executing the way we need to play, and playing hard now, but preparing for March,” Guard MiLaysia Fulwiley stated.
Fulwiley had a strong game, scoring 22 points, grabbing 11 rebounds, and dishing out 4 assists. This was the first double-double of her career, showing she is improving while wearing purple and gold.
“I mean, it does fire everybody up from the crowd, to our bench, our coaches, when shes scoring. I think today she had a good day, and it’s really exciting to see how far she is going to go,” Guard ZaKiyah Johnson said about her teammate Fulwiley after tonight’s performance.
As March rolls around, the Tigers have two more SEC games to secure more confidence and practice before tournament season begins. Although LSU defeated Auburn, Ole Miss, and now Missouri, their loss against Texas and South Carolina will continue to push them to fight for their spot in upcoming games.
“We just have a lot of weapons, all the way down the bench, even when you go to the bigs,” Johnson mentioned when talking about her different teammates. Let’s see how LSU continues to stay strong in the coming games.
