Every Spring semester, the LSU Family Association hosts their Spring Family Fling — a chance for LSU Tiger families to visit campus and be immersed in Louisiana Culture.

“It’s an amazing opportunity for parents to actually experience and get some of Louisiana’s culture and cuisine,” said Rhea Joyer, a member of LSU Family Council.

From crawfish boils to king cake taste testing, families get a chance to eat some iconic Louisiana springtime dishes. There’s also activities at the UREC and catching iconic lsu sports like baseball and tennis at discounted rate. But more than the activities, this weekend makes quality time possible for families.

“It gives us an opportunity to meet back up with people we haven’t seen in a while, spend some quality time, as well as spending time with our tigers, but it’s also just a chance to kind of reconnect,” said Joyer.

For some this weekend is just a chance to catch up but for others, it provides a way to see their new student in their element and ease their fears.

“
So that is a chance for anybody who is new, coming in with their tiger to see where they are, get to see them again, see what the campus is like. It may be, you know, a different experience. It’s also huge. 
It’s one of those things where you will meet so many people, experience so many things,” said Joyer.

So, if we miss you this weekend, don’t worry because there’s a Fall Family Weekend in October, right during football season. Families, make sure to check your emails regarding these events, especially if you are interested in joining the Family Association.
