As of March 2026, gas prices are at an estimated $4 across the globe. According to GasBuddy.com, prices haven’t spiked this high since 2022.
President Trump says he believes that the US and Iran will come to terms on an agreement that will promote unity between the two countries. Consumers hope to see gas prices plummet, as the conflict with Iran comes to a close. When asked to share his thoughts on the price of gas per gallon, one LSU student said that “before we went into this war, [the price] was almost $2.50 per gallon. I mean $50 to fill up my truck is a little too much.”
For many LSU students, the thought of prices increasing has caused worry amongst those already struggling financially. On average, about 70% of college students in the US struggle to pay their bills. And about 50% say financial burdens disrupt their concentration on their school work, according to insidehighered.com.
LSU students are hoping to see relief at the pump soon as they prepare for final exams this semester.
