Earlier today, Louisiana State University held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Our Lady of the Lake Health Interdisciplinary Science Building.
The building will serve as the home to a new campus district focused on scientific discovery. LSU officials aim to use this building to create a collaborative space for STEM majors .
LSU broke ground on the building back in March 2024, after securing over 148 million in funding. The facility will be nearly 200,000 square feet, with 4 stories of state-of-the-art construction, including new lab spaces, student engagement centers and a food commons.
LSU Executive Vice President and Chancellor Jim Dalton expressed the importance of the facility and his hopes for the new building during the beginning phases of construction, saying, “As we work toward earning status as a top 50 research university, investments like this one are vital. They transform our capacity for impact through research that improves lives, and they create unmatched experiences for our community of scholars.”
