Florence + the Machine is London based band consisting of two best friends, Florence Welch and Isabella “Machine” Summers and a collaboration of other artists. Welch, known for her fiery read hair and impeccable vocals, fronts the group while the Machine plays keyboard. With two albums under their belt (“Lungs” and “Ceremonials”), the band has received critical acclaim, having been nominated for 3 Grammys thus far. Known for their soulful rock style, Welch’s powerful voice, and their ability to balance both dark and joyful themes they has gained a worldwide following and are ardently beloved by their fans. The band preformed at The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival last spring, where Welch spoke of her love for the city if New Orleans, the culture, and the experiences she has spent there.  It was at this show that I first saw the band preform. I have been a huge fan ever since and am incredibly excited to showcase them on KLSU!
