Student Government passed several resolutions along with a finance bill during their Senate meeting Wednesday night.
One resolution passed requests the Office of Parking and Transportation lift student parking zones during spring and summer intersessions, meaning commuters would be able to park in typically vacated resident lots.
Senator Chase Hilton said lifting zone restrictions will let students have more available parking on campus. He also said that he wants students to have an easier commute on campus.
Another of the resolutions urges the College of Art and Design to allow students to take more cross-curricular courses as electives within general education.
It targets students who want to take more art and design classes. It also suggests giving students in the College of Art and Design more flexibility with elective courses.
SG also passed a finance bill that will give $500 to a student in the master’s program within the department of oceanography and coastal sciences. The student wants to travel to the International Coastal Symposium in South Africa.
Another resolution passed urges Auxiliary Services to make room 358B in the Student Union into a study space. The resolution also states that students want to keep printing services available in the Union.
The last resolution supports the LSU Police Department’s development of security applications for smartphones and computers at the University.
