In 2005, the line “Collipark, Bubba Sparxxx” caused instant movement in those who loved Sparxxx’s song “Ms. New Booty.” As his most notable hit, “Ms. New Booty” played in clubs throughout the nation and was certified gold. However, Sparxxx had hit songs before “Ms. New Booty” that never reached the same status.
He began his rap career in 1996 after being noticed rapping at a University of Georgia football game. His 2001 debut album “Dark Days, Bright Nights” debuted at number three on the Billboard charts.
His sophomore album, “Deliverance,” did not sell as well despite critical acclaim.
In 2005, Sparxxx returned to the limelight with “Ms. New Booty” leading his way back to popularity. His third album, “The Charm,” was well received by the rap community.
After brief appearances on other artists’ albums and a spot in the video game “Def Jam: Fight for New York,” Sparxxx disappeared from the public eye.
So what ever happened to Bubba Sparxxx?
People got tired of his gimmick. He, along with the Pall Walls of the rap genre, had talent, but only when they could rap slowly and along with the beat. Fans started searching for more from the music they listened to, and Sparxxx could not deliver.
Sparxxx did release an album last year titled “Pain Management.” The question of whether he was in pain, or if those who listened to it were, is yet to be determined.
