LSU freshman guard Raigyne Moncrief continued to build on her solid premier season over her past two contests, earning her second Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week nod this season.
On Thursday in a 75-58 win against Missouri in the PMAC, Moncrief finished with 15 points, three rebounds and two steals. She followed that performance with another 15 points, nine rebounds, four steals and an assist in a 72-67 loss to Texas A&M in College Station, Texas, on Sunday.
Moncrief averaged 15 points, 6 rebounds and 4 steals per game last week.
Moncrief scored in double digits in five of her last six games, including 15-point outings in each of her last four appearances.
She also knocked down 50 percent of her shots and scored 22 of her 30 total points last week during the second half.
Moncrief now ranks No. 5 in the SEC in steals.
Moncrief has developed into the Lady Tigers’ second-highest scorer with 264 points and 11.5 points per game. The Fort Lauderdale, Fla., native has averaged 4.7 rebounds per game and leads LSU with 48 steals in 2014.
She also received SEC Freshman of the Week recognition back in December, following two LSU victories against Rutgers and Michigan.
