The Baton Rouge Police Department is investigating an armed robbery that occured at a University Edge apartments Thursday at 11 p.m.
According to a press release from BRPD, three male suspects forced their way in to an apartment at University edge with handguns demanding money.
The suspects attempted to rob six other victims after stealing money and other items from the original apartment, said Mckneely.
BRPD arrested one of the three suspects, Hayward Howrd, 27, of 5336 Marais St., New Orleans, after he attempted to flee the scene.
Hayward was booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison for two counts of armed robbery and six counts of attempted armed robbery, said BRPD spokesman Cpl. L’Jean Mckneely.
Two victims, who are believed to be University students, were injured in the incident.
The first victim was beaten during the invasion, suffering minor injuries, according to the report.
The second victim suffered moderate injuries after jumping from his bedroom window on the fourth floor.
Mckneely said police are are actively searching for the other two suspects and the incident is under investigation.
