Man unaffiliated with University arrested for car and credit card theft
On Jan. 7, at 10:45 a.m. the Baton Rouge Police Department notified the LSU Police Department that officers had arrested Timothy David Elbert Jr., 24, of 14923 Russett Ave. after warrants had previously been posted by LSUPD, according to LSUPD Spokesman Capt. Cory Lalonde.
Last year on Sept. 28, LSUPD received a complaint that Elbert had stolen a vehicle with a credit card inside.
LSUPD obtained an arrest warrant for Elbert after discovering Elbert had used the victim’s credit card, Lalonde said.
Elbert was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison for auto theft and unauthorized use of an access card.
Man unaffiliated with the University arrested for hit and run
On Dec. 16 at 8:24 a.m. an officer was flagged down by a woman who claimed her vehicle was hit from behind by a vehicle that fled the scene on Gourrier Lane by River Road.
BRPD notified LSUPD that the suspect, Timothy Alan Higdon, 28, of 147 Deerbrook Trail, turned himself in to authorities.
BRPD officers transported Higdon to LSUPD, and he admitted to the crash, Lalonde said.
Higdon received a misdemeanor summons for driving under suspension and without proof of insurance.
Two suspects unaffiliated with the University arrested for possession of schedule II Methamphetamines and other charges
On Dec. 19 at 12:27 a.m. an LSUPD officer stopped a vehicle on Nicholson Drive.
The driver, Kody Keen, 26, of 7833 Lasalle Ave. and the passenger, Tiffani Benton, 27, of 944 Avenue D., were both arrested for multiple outstanding fugitive warrants from BRPD.
During the subsequent searches, officers found two small bags with small amounts of methamphetamine in Keen’s possession. Officers found one small bag containing half of a gram of meth, a spoon and a syringe in Benton’s possession, Lalonde said.
Both suspects were booked in to the East Baton Rouge Prison for possession of schedule II methamphetamines and outstanding fugitive warrants.
Man unaffiliated with the University arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to distribute
On Jan. 4 at 12:44 a.m. an LSUPD officer stopped a vehicle on Highland Road and smelled marijuana on the driver.
The driver, Thomas Rivers, 19, of 106 Delgado Dr. was found in possession of 15 grams of individually-packaged marijuana, a pipe containing marijuana residue and an electronic scale, Lalonde said.
Rivers was booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison for possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute.
