HAPPY FUNDRAISER WEEK! We’re celebrating with some good ole College Rock, which is all about student-ran radio stations playing all kinds of music.
In dedication, here’s a few facts about KLSU
- Started in 1915 as KFGC. Dr. David Vance Guthrie was experimenting with radio sets and attempted to get a college station going, but was halted by WWI.
- From 1936-1947 KLSU was WJBO. Faculty talked on WWII.
- 1947-1979 WLSU. 1st FM station in the deep south + 1st college to broadcast a campus opera.
- From 1979-1983 we were known as WPRG
- Since 1983 we’ve been KLSU!
- In 1994, KLSU changes to alt format and there was a KLSU zine made by listeners as a response.
- First to stream audio on the internet
- Our first fundraiser was in 2008.
Thanks for jamming with us and supporting us throughout the years!
