The British are coming!!! This week’s playlist is all about the rising popularity of British bands/singers in the 60s. The Beatles song “I Wannna Hold Your Hand” launched America into Beatlemania and kickstarted the invasion.
A short segment of the playlist focuses on the obscure subgenre “Freakbeat” that is defined by its harder driving British blues sound. The last portion of the playlist focuses on the American response to the British Invasion with bands such as The Beach Boys (who had a sort of rivalry The Beatles) and The Turtles.
