On this episode of Archer, we pick up, almost, right where we left off last week.
It opens with Archer driving through a hilly, country landscape with Lana passed out in the backseat.
He’s arguing with Malory over work and his relationship with Lana, as usual. The conversation ends with him telling her to make sure AJ is fed as she should be, as Malory thinks she’s overweight despite being a baby.
At this point, Lana finally wakes up and tries to register where they are.
“What is this? The Shire?” she says.
Looking down she finds that she’s dressed in only a trench coat covering lacy lingerie, and then remembers Archer’s recent infidelity.
As they argue, Archer reveals he injected her with a tranquilizer because she was hysterical and he wanted to take her on a trip to somewhere “neutral” for them to work out their relationship.
We find out they’re in Wales, and Lana is far from impressed. She throws a scarf around his neck from the backseat and chokes him while telling him to stop the car, and they end up going off road and wrecking at their destination.
Once arriving, Lana admits, “It is kind of romantic.”
Archer continues to describe their getaway as a fairytale, but Lana isn’t having it for the fact that she was drugged and forced to be there.
She’s trying to find out the truth about what happened between Archer and Katia.
“I think the idiots called her,” he says.
Immediately their conversation is put on hold as we hop over to the rest of the gang, who are in the process of giving Ray’s hand with a robot one after he lost it during the Durhani mission.
Copious amounts of hand jokes and puns ensued, as could be expected.
Meanwhile back in the world of Archer and Lana, he explains that the gang purposely set them up and she seems to give him a pass this time.
In the moment, the Llewellyn brothers enter, and Archer reveals there’s actually more of a work aspect to their getaway rather than him trying to be romantic.
The Llewellyn brothers are rebels on the run from an MI5 agent, with Archer and Lana there to help extract them.
In a rage, Lana walks outside to pay a phone call to Malory, who assures her the assignment is sound and that she’s been in contact with Slater. Of course, before the conversation is over, Malory brings up AJ’s weight again and Lana threatens her.
Just then Lana sees a car approaching with the MI5 agent in it and goes back to warn everyone inside, but not without eavesdropping first.
She overhears Archer telling the brothers about Katia but admits they didn’t do more than share a goodbye kiss, which Lana is still slightly upset about.
Once inside, she makes Archer and the biggest brother, Gordon, go hide in the closet together and has the other pose as an American, to which he reveals his name as Randall.
When the MI5 agent enters, he begins closely questioning them about their situation.
When Lana thinks their cover is about to be blown—and also wants to make Archer jealous—she opens her trench coat to reveal her lingerie in an attempt to divert the agent’s attention.
She even takes is a step further by claiming she and Randall are the ones on a romantic getaway and makes out with him.
This act is short-lived, as jealous Archer watches from the closet.
“Closet rampage!” he whispers before bursting into the room.
In the next few minutes, he and Lana manage to escape the rebels, who actually turned out to be terrorists, and kidnap the MI5 agent before making their way back to headquarters.
At this point we get to see that Ray’s hand is finished. Instead of it being a robot hand though, it’s an African-American hand.
To close the episode, Archer and Lana surprisingly act mature about their relationship and for now it seems to be saved.
Archer also shares his best idea yet with us, which involves installing giant magnets in the bumpers of all cars, so that way they would propel themselves.
However, Lana crushes his dreams without hesitation by bringing up the fact that stopping at a red light would result in getting pushed out into traffic and t-boned.
