After defeating Ole Miss, 5-2, Friday night, the No. 2 LSU softball team earned its 15th victory by mercy rule this season with a 8-0 win against Ole Miss to clinch the series in the first game of Saturday’s double-header.
The Tigers’ (35-3, 8-3 Southeastern Conference) lineup exploded behind the bats of sophomore second baseman Constance Quinn and junior catcher Kellsi Kloss, who blasted a homer a piece to left center in the third inning.
Kloss got the Tigers on the board with three-run homer after junior shortstop Bianka Bell drew a walk and sophomore third baseman Sahvanna Jaquish reached on an error.
Quinn continued the rally with a solo shot, her second home run of the season. She went 2-for-3 with 3 RBIs on the day.
The Tigers added four more runs in the fourth. Senior designated player Dylan Supak drove in two runs with a single down the left field line. Quinn capped off scoring for the Tigers with a two-RBI single to center field.
Freshman pitcher Carley Hoover (10-3) became the first of the Tigers’ rotation to reach double-digit wins this season. She finished with seven strikeouts and no walks in five innings pitched.
LSU continues the series with Game 3 and the second game of a double header at 4:30 p.m.
