At the beginning of the episode, it’s announced the remaining girls and Chris will be going to Sante Fe, New Mexico. There will be two one-on-one dates and one group date.
Carly gets the first one-on-one date and right off the bat, they kiss. They go to a house for yoga and a woman is sitting in the backyard. The woman says she’s a love guru and is going to connect them spiritually. She has Carly blindfold Chris and communicate with him through touch and breath. Carly is very uncomfortable. She then asks for the two of them to undress each other completely but they both decide they are too uncomfortable to go that far.
Back at the house, Kelsey decides to tell the girls about how she was widowed. She seemed to be very nonchalant about the fact that her husband had heart failure and the girls are a bit caught off guard by this information.
Jade, Megan, Kaitlyn, Whitney, Mackenzie, Becca, Samantha, Ashley and Kelsey find out that they will be going on the group date. This means that Britt will be going on a one-on-one because she’s the only girl left.
Back on the date, Carly and Chris go to a romantic lodge to talk. Carly says the date earlier was really difficult for her because she hasn’t been intimate in over a year. Her old boyfriend wouldn’t touch her and that’s one of the reasons the relationship failed. The two have a heart-to-heart and he gives her a rose.
For the group date, all of the girls are going white water rafting. Kelsey does not seem to be enjoying herself. At one point, Jade falls into the water, and due to a medical condition, Chris has to hold her to make sure her body doesn’t go into hypothermia.
Afterwards, the girls get all dressed up to spend the rest of the evening in the hotel lobby. However, they’re in for quite a surprise. Jordan, a contestant who was eliminated many episodes ago, shows up at the hotel and tells Chris she wants a second chance. They talk it over for a while. Chris announces to the girls on the date that he’s decided to give her a second chance at least for the night.
Ashley I. is super annoyed but she’s decided she’s going to bring up her issues with Chris. She says she doesn’t think she’s good marriage material. She also tries to convince the other girls to be mean to her and to tell Chris that they don’t want her to be there. This rubs some of the girls the wrong way but some seem to agree with her.
Britt gets her one-on-one date card and it says “the sky’s the limit.” She freaks out because she’s terrified of heights and doesn’t know what to do.
Back on the group date, Chris pulls Jordan aside and talks to her and tells her that he doesn’t think it will be fair to the other girls for her to get a second chance. After she leaves, he sits down with the girls and apologizes for putting them through that. He then decides to give Whitney the rose at the end of the night.
Ashley I., is of course, disappointed because she’s just obsessive and childish and dumb. (personal opinion)
Chris sneaks into the girl’s room at 4:32 a.m. and goes to surprise Britt and wake her up for their date. They pull up to a hot air balloon and her fears of having to jump off a cliff are gone. She’s so excited to share the experience with him and Chris thinks it’s cute how excited she is. Britt says that she feels like Chris is her boyfriend. They kiss a lot and end up in the bed!
When Britt comes back and tells the girls how awesome her date was, Kelsey feels like she has things to share with Chris. She feels like their relationship is being threatened. She goes to his room and tells him that she is a widow. They end up kissing and she feels extremely confident that their relationship is back on track. She claims she loves her past even though it’s tragic. She seems to think the show is about the story of her and Chris’s love.
At the cocktail party, the girls are all very tense save for Kelsey. It’s clear to the other girls she seems very confident and they don’t really know why. Then Chris comes in and tells them that it’s been a very emotional week and his talk with Kelsey has also made him very emotional. He gets choked up and walks out to take a minute for himself.
Kelsey makes a very long speech to the other girls about how she intended to tell them about her and Chris’s conversation at the cocktail party and she thinks Chris has decided not to waste anyone’s time and has already made up his mind about who he wants. She seems to be implying he wants to be with her and that he’s going to end the show with the rest of the girls. Everyone is very confused as to what is going on.
It’s revealed that Chris has already decided who he wants to keep, and he doesn’t want to waste time at the cocktail party, so they will be going straight to the rose ceremony. Kelsey starts to get nervous about the ceremony and then walks off. Next thing you know, she’s having a panic attack on the floor while the medics surround her. That’s where the show ends, a cliffhanger with no rose ceremony.
