.Cords and Cables: With our constantly connected lives, you’ll want to double check you have all the wires necessary for your school experience. Plan to bring an extra HDMI cord for connecting your computer to the TV in your residence hall’s lounge, an ethernet cable which makes it easier to connect your gaming console to the internet, two of every type of battery charger you use and a power strip to expand your plugging in capabilities.
.Lighting: Most people remember to bring a desk lamp, but other kinds of lighting help make your room more comfortable and may allow you to study or stay up while your roommate sleeps. Twinkle lights look great strung up above your bed, standing floor lamps are good for brightening up, and maybe think about something to put in your closet so you can see when you’re getting dressed 5 minutes before your 8:30 a.m. class.
.Storage: Every residence hall room on campus comes with a closet, a desk, a chest of drawers and a bed. Buying a plastic organizer with drawers or a small bookcase can make finding a place for your things a little easier, because with clothes, entertainment, books and food, things can get cluttered run.
.Throw blanket: Sometimes you will want snuggle under a blanket without having to get in your bed.
.Shower shoes: Its real. People joke about shower flip flops in movies, but at LSU if you’re staying in one of the residence halls with a hall or community bathroom grab something to protect your feet. Yes, the bathrooms are cleaned often, but still, put on some flip flops. Athlete’s foot is gross.
.Shower organizer: Find something waterproof to store and organize your shower gear. This comes in handy even if you have the luxury of a suite bath because it keeps your things separate from everyone elses.
.Cleaning supplies: Get something to do some light cleaning at least. If you have a rug, get a small vaccum to keep it neat. Cleaning wipes and multisurface products are great for keeping your dorm room from becoming a germ party.
.Laundry pods: They are squishy and strange at first, but are much easier to use when you are doing laundry in the residence halls. Instead of hauling your jug of detergent to laundry room for each load, you can just put a pod in your basket to take with you. Laundry pods are more expensive than other types of detergent, but the price is worth it.
.Pajamas that cover your body: The fire alarm will go off at least once in the middle of the night. Make it a little less rough on yourself by having sleeping clothes that you can walk outside in when the alarm is screaming in your ears at 3:30 a.m.
.Interview clothes: You never know when you might need to dress to impress, so along with your day to day wear, pack something appropriate for a job interview or other fancy occasion.
