LAFAYETTE (AP) — The star of the hit CW television series “The Vampire Diaries” stopped at a doggy kissing booth and told fans he’s going to create a sanctuary to rehabilitate both unwanted animals and bullies.

Ian Somerhalder was at the Strut Your Mutt fundraiser Saturday in Lafayette to help raise money for the Best Friends Animal Society. Dogs could win prizes for best kisser.

The Advertiser reports that the actor from Covington said his own charitable foundation plans to create a “completely green” animal sanctuary in Tangipahoa Parish.
