In a rematch of a battle in Tuscaloosa on November 5th, the Alabama Crimson Tide proved why they deserved to be in the National Championship Game, defeating the LSU Tigers 21-0.
In a game they dominated from start to finish, they outgained the Tigers 384 to 92 while also getting 21 first downs to the Tigers 5. The Tigers didn’t even cross the 50 yard line until late in the 4th.
The only part that was down for the Tide was that they couldn’t execute once in the redzone, having to settle for 7 field goal attempts. But unlike their game on November 5th, the Tide’s kicking game was effective and a strength, as Jeremy Shelley went 5 for 7 to score Alabama’s first 15 points.
The Tide didn’t score their first touchdown until the 4th Quarter, when All-American Running Back Trent Richardson broke a 34 yard Touchdown to virtually seal the game.
If the Tigers had a positive, it was their defense, as most of the game they held the Tide to field goal attempts and punts. The defense wasn’t successful in getting a turnover, a first for LSU this season.
Quarterback Jordan Jefferson struggled all night driving the team down the field. He finished with 53 yards passing and 15 yards rushing.
The Tigers finished the season 13-1 and are the favorites to win the championship next year.
