The LSU men’s and women’s swimming and diving team could not take care of business against future SEC member Texas A&M on senior day at the Natatorium Saturday.
The men’s side fell to the Aggies 167.5-132.5 while the women’s team lost 181-115.
“Performance wise I was pleased, but point wise it did not turn out the way I wanted it to be,” Swimming Coach Dave Geyer said. “We’ve got to take away a lot because this was the first racing opportunity in over two months. We’ve got a little bit more work to do before the SEC Championships.”
Olympian hopeful Amanda Kendall helped sweep the women’s sprint freestyle events, notching a first-place finish in the 100 free and 200 free. Kendall also placed first in the 100 butterfly
Junior Craig Hamilton swept the men’s distance freestyle events, winning the 500 free and 1000 free.
Sophomores Michael Saco and Ricardo Alvarado Jimenez delivered first-place performances in the 50 free and 200 breaststroke, respectively.
On the diving side, freshman Alex Bettridge placed third in the three-meter dive and senior Matt Vieke notched a second-place finish in the three-meter dive.
The women will return to action next week as they travel to Houston, Texas for a two-day meet against Tulane, Houston and Rice.
