SHREVEPORT (AP) – A man fleeing Bossier City police crashed a pickup into a school bus loaded with children in Shreveport. Shreveport police say it happened shortly after 5 p.m. Tuesday. As many as 15 children suffered minor injuries. The crash happened after police in Bossier tried to stop the pickup truck. The driver, identified as a suspect in a drug investigation, sped away. The chase wound up in Shreveport, where the truck hit the bus carrying children from a summer program at a church.
The driver ran from the truck but was soon caught.
He was identified as 29-year-old Tedric Smith of Shreveport. He was booked in Shreveport as a fugitive from the Bossier City Police Department and with felony criminal negligent injuring. Police said other charges were pending in Bossier.
