The LSU Board of Supervisors approved an increase in LSU head baseball coach Paul Mainieri’s pay by $75,000 at today’s committee meetings.Mainieri’s total annual compensation will increase from $450,000 to $525,000. This does not include fringe benefits and post-season and academic incentives.Mainieri will receive an increase of $25,000 for appearing on radio, television and Internet programs concerning the University and baseball team. He will receive additional revenue of $50,000 from vendor endorsement fees.Athletic Director Joe Alleva said Mainieri is an “outstanding coach and teacher.” This semester, the baseball players have a record-setting overall GPA of 2.9.Mainieri’s contract became effective July 1, 2006, for a five-year term ending June 30, 2011.Alleva said Mainieri will still not be the highest paid baseball coach in the SEC.
