ALEXANDRIA, La. (AP) — Families of three deceased American soldiers met with President Bush during his trip to Louisiana.
Among them was Kurt Nixon of Bossier City, whose brother, Travis, died in Afghanistan on his third tour of duty there.
Nixon said he exchanged letters with the president after his brother, an Army staff sergeant, was killed three years ago.
Kurt Nixon said his father, Nick Nixon, also met with the president during the Monday visit. Nixon said they talked about history and about Abraham Lincoln who also believed in the importance of meeting with the families of fallen soldiers.
