BATON ROUGE — With the LSU football team scheduled to play three opponents ranked in the top 12 in the nation in the next five weeks, the LSU Athletic Ticket Office reminds fans to beware of counterfeit tickets. Counterfeit tickets are sometimes sold over the Internet and by ticket sellers around the stadium on game day prior to match-ups between highly-ranked teams. If a fan purchases a stolen or counterfeit ticket, he or she can be denied admission at the gates and subject to investigation. If a person is already in the stadium and is caught with a stolen or counterfeit ticket, that individual may be ejected and may be subject to arrest. ”Fans who purchase game tickets on the secondary market are taking a risk,” said Brian Broussard, LSU’s assistant athletic director for ticket operations. “They need to have great trust in the source of the ticket. Fans should be on high alert for tickets to our games against Florida, Georgia and Alabama in particular because they are highly-ranked opponents.” There are several organized groups that work out of Atlanta and New York that travel to various sporting events and concerts and sell stolen and counterfeit tickets, Broussard said. LSU reminds fans that the only authorized outlet for LSU football tickets is the LSU Athletic Ticket Office, including the LSU Ticket Marketplace at LSUsports.net. Purchasing tickets from other sources is done at the buyers’ own risk.
