It is the comment that will not go away — likely stapled on countless bulletin boards in Gainesville, Fla., in anticipation of Saturday’s game between Florida and LSU.Coach Les Miles said Wednesday he is not concerned about the impact of junior defensive tackle Ricky Jean-Francois’ controversial remarks on Monday.”If we get a good shot on [Tim Tebow], we’re going to try our best to take him out of the game,” Jean-Francois told the Orlando Sentinel. “With his size and his heart, it’s hard to get a clean shot.”Miles suggested the question was posed to Jean-Francois in a way that may have skewed his answer.”To me, his view of our opponent’s quarterback is with respect and admiration,” Miles said.Miles said he does not believe it will affect the game’s outcome.”You can’t play any harder than we’ll play against Florida, nor will Florida play against us. That’s the style of this game,” he said. “The peripheral chatter really has little relevance.”Miles said LSU practiced this week with redshirt freshman Jarrett Lee taking snaps as quarterback.”We put the crowd noise on him, we called the plays he’s going to run, put the guys in there with him, and said, ‘Let’s go play. Let’s have fun,'” Miles said.Sophomore Andrew Hatch, who was the starter before leaving the Auburn game with a concussion, is also expected to play.—-Contact Amy Brittain at [email protected]
