Local rapper Webster Gradney Jr., also known as “Webbie,” was arrested Sunday by the Hattiesburg Police Department after a car chase.A Forrest County Sheriff’s Office official said Gradney was charged with felony eluding an officer, aggravated assault with a motor vehicle and a first offense driving under the influence.The official said the charges of aggravated assault were dropped, and Gradney posted bail at $25,000 for the felony eluding charge.Information about the bond on the misdemeanor DUI was unavailable, the official said.The Hattiesburg Police Department public information officer could not be reached by press deadline.WAFB reported Monday that Hattiesburg police chased Gradney on Interstate 59 after an officer tried to stop him for a traffic violation. “Webbie” is well known for his songs “Wipe Me Down” and “Independent,” as well as his collaborations with rapper “Lil’ Boosie.”—-Contact J.J.
