LSU Sports Information Director Michael Bonnette confirmed Tuesday that two members of LSU football were dismissed from the team last month.
Junior Nick Child from Metairie and red-shirt freshman Jeffery Jack from Houston are no longer members of the team because the two violated unspecified team rules earlier in the semester.
Child signed with LSU in 2003 from Archbishop Rummel High School in Metairie.
“I didn’t want to leave,” Child said. “But I guess it’s going to work out for the best. That’s what I’m hoping for.”
Child appeared in 11 games and recorded three tackles and one pass break up during his career at LSU.
Jack, who red-shirted as a freshman in 2004, played mostly on special teams this season and had four tackles.
“I didn’t want to leave, but the coaches thought this school wasn’t a good fit for me,” Jack said.
Jack and Child both declined to specify which team rules they broke. Jack and Child said they are enrolled in classes this spring. Both said they will try to transfer at the end of the semester to schools closer to their hometowns.
