Bike theft from Edward Gay Apartments LSUPD arrested two juveniles on counts of theft and remaining after being forbidden. The two juveniles, ages 13 and 10, were arrested July 16 at 2:22 p.m. after they allegedly stole two bicycles from Edward Gay Apartments. Capt. Russell Roge of LSUPD said officers responded to a call from Edward Gay Apartments in response to two juveniles stealing bicycles. Roge said officers arrested the juveniles on West Roosevelt St. Roge said they were transported back to LSUPD, at which time the bikes were recovered and the juveniles were released to the custody of their parents with charges. Roge said officers discovered the juveniles had been previously banned from campus.
Remaining after being forbidden LSUPD arrested a man July 17 at 7 p.m. on one count of remaining after being forbidden. Charles Earle, 48, of 1532 Magnolia St., Shreveport, was booked in East Baton Rouge Parish Prison for the misdemeanor charge. Roge said officers responded to an anonymous complaint of a suspicious person pan-handling in Middleton Library. Roge said Earle, who is not a University student, was previously banned from campus.
DWI LSUPD arrested a man Friday at 2:50 a.m. on one count of DWI. Jared Mayfield, 21, of 3801 Southpass Drive, was involved in a one-vehicle traffic crash on Gourrier Avenue, according to Roge. Roge said officers observed Mayfield driving an SUV when he left the roadway and rolled the vehicle on its side. Roge said Mayfield was arrested and transported to Our Lady of the Lake Hospital because of moderate injuries. Theft, battery and damage to property LSUPD arrested a man Friday at 3 p.m. on counts of theft of goods, simple criminal damage to property and simple battery. Corney Ruffin, 21, of 4754 Longfellow Drive, was arrested and booked in East Baton Rouge Parish Prison for stealing goods from the University bookstore. Roge said a bookstore employee observed Ruffin stealing items and escorted him to the manager’s office. Roge said when Ruffin was confronted about the theft, he allegedly struck the bookstore employee, damaged a door and fled the scene. Roge said officers arrested Ruffin, who is not a University student, on the South side of Tiger Stadium. The stolen goods were valued at $443.80.
Criminal trespassing LSUPD arrested a man Saturday at 7:48 p.m. on one count of criminal trespassing. He is booked on three outstanding fugitive warrants from other departments for contempt of court in East Baton Rouge Parish. Christopher Byron Redmond Scaife, 33, has no known address, according to Roge. Roge said an officer recognized Scaife on campus and ran a standard check for wants and warrants. Roge said the check revealed Scaife’s three outstanding warrants and was booked in East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. Roge said Scaife had been previously banned from campus for suspicious activity.
