The LSU gymnastics team began its quest for a third-straight Super Six appearance today as the team began fall workouts.
The Tigers return eight letterwinners from last season’s squad, which finished No. 6 in the country.
But LSU coach D-D Breaux said in a news release that she believes the team’s five freshmen will determine the fate of this season’s team.
“We feel in the wake of graduating a couple seniors it is exciting to have a young, enthusiastic, wide-eyed freshman class,” Breaux said. “We have five freshmen, and we are anticipating one more joining us at Christmas. We have had a tremendous preseason, and what has been key to our success has been the enthusiasm of our upper classmen. We’ve had great leadership and good mentoring.”
The Tigers open the season on Jan 8 in a home meet against Maryland.
