Whether you’re interested in competition, looking to be inspired by design idols or connect with friends, the Adobe Creative Jam event has something for everyone.
The Adobe Creative Jam event will be held in the College of Art and Design Auditorium in room 102 of the Design Building on Tuesday from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
The Adobe Creative Jam event series allows local thought leaders to showcase their processes and projects. Teams have the chance to use Adobe Creative Cloud to compete and put their creative skills to the test in a tournament.
The event is “an inspiring two-part design experience that demonstrates and celebrates creativity,” according to a news release.
The event will be hosted by Megan Kirkwood, senior community manager at Adobe, and Paul Trani, senior worldwide evangelist for Adobe. Speakers will include Three Sixty Eight Chief Strategy Officer Jeremy Beyt, Slash Creative Owner Andrew Reilley and Smallchalk owner and artist Ashlee Arceneaux.
A one-hour design showcase will highlight the work of three local creative leaders. A Creative Jam tournament will allow ten student design teams will be given a theme and will then compete in a 3-hour design charrette showdown in motion design and graphic design. Tournament participants will then take their creations to the stage and the audience will have the opportunity to select the People’s Choice winner.
Local creative leaders will be on-site to review designers’ portfolios. The reviews will be one-on-one with creative professionals including Senior Graphic Designer at Three Sixty Eight Corey Schneider; designer, art director and Creative Strike Visuals Co. Thomas Wimberly; Director of Digital Strategy at MESH Jacob Jolibois; and Creative Director at MESH David Catoire for 15 minutes before the event.
A group of judges who specialize in creative direction and brand strategy for local companies will decide the grand prize winners. The judges include Kelli Binnings, creative director and partner at Reign Creative Co.; Scott Hodgin, partner and creative director at TILT; Marie Brewer Powell, principal and director of Brand Strategy and creative at BREW Agency; Matt Dawson, BTR and ATL Graphic Design, branding and illustration founder of CropBR; and Julia Sevin, designer and co-founder of Tight Ship.
The event officially kicks off at 7 p.m., but “jammers” will arrive at 4:30 p.m. to set-up and the theme will be given at 5 p.m. sharp.
