Near LSU’s campus, one determined young woman is proving that hard work and heart goes a long way.
Not only is Macie Smith a full-time college student, but she also owns and operates a very successful beauty supply store.
Her mission goes beyond business; she’s dedicated to uplifting and empowering young African Americans at LSU and Southern University.
For many, her store is more than just a place to shop. It’s a welcoming space, a hub of encouragement, and a reminder that dreams are achievable with determination.
Balancing academics and being an entrepreneur is not an easy task, and her journey has been met with challenges.
Unfortunately, her store has experienced theft on multiple occasions, testing her resolve. But she refuses to let those moments derail her purpose.
Instead, she channels resilience and optimism, continuing to serve the community with grace and unwavering commitment.
“Of course, shoplifting is everywhere but how I bounce back from it is honestly just keep going. I don’t change the way that I treat everyone else just because one person made a mistake.” Says owner Macie Smith.
Her story inspires many, demonstrating that even when faced with adversity, passion and dedication can light the way forward. For her, the store isn’t just a livelihood, it’s a legacy in the making.
