After throwing LSU baseball’s first no-hitter since 1979, Jared Poche’ was named Southeastern Conference Pitcher of the Week.
The senior southpaw threw seven hitless inning and recorded four strikeouts, in LSU’s 6-0 win against Army last Saturday.
Poche’ (1-0) was also named one of College Baseball’s National Players of the Week.
Poche’s no-hitter was sixth in LSU’s history and was the first since Bobby Landry tossed a no-hitter against Southern Miss in 1979. Poche’s career record now sits at 28-9 and is 10 wins away from breaking LSU’s school wins record, which is held by Scott Shultz.
Landry named SEC Player of the Week
LSU softball senior outfielder Bailey Landry earned SEC Player of the Week honors, following batting .813 and notching 10 RBIs, in the Purple and Gold Challenge.
The Tigers ended the weekend sweeping the tournament, and Landry led the team offensively.
Landry had multiple hits in four of the fives in the Purple and Gold Challenge this weekend, including two doubles, two triples and home run, ending the weekend 13-for-16.
The Prairieville, Louisiana native came within one hit shy of the cycle against Georgia Southern.
