LSU is helping students and faculty address concerns they are facing after the 2016 election.
“If there’s anything that the election of 2016 says to us, it is that elections matter, activism matters, grass roots, organization matters,” LSU Law School Associate Dean and professor Ray Diamond said.
The LSU Law Center hosted a film screening where students and faculty watched Ava Duvernay’s “13th,” a documentary about race and the political justice system.
A panel discussion followed the screening where panelists addressed concerns about political issues against minorities.
The panelists said race remains a leading factor in political injustice today, but they said people can change this.
Diamond said the documentary is an emotional reminder of his past, but he is hopeful that today’s generation will make some changes.
