Man on LSD is arrested for stealing beer and intoxication
Officers arrested John Maser of 1212 South Jennings Road, Linden, Mich., for disturbing the peace by public intoxication and remaining after being forbidden.
Officers responded to complaints Sept. 25 about Maser disturbing a tailgating site near Bernie Moore Track Stadium, said Det. Kevin Scott, LSUPD spokesman. When officers arrived, Maser said he was high on LSD.
Scott said Maser showed obvious signs of intoxication, and tailgaters claimed he had stolen a beer from their tailgating site.
Maser was arrested and issued a misdemeanor summons.
Five Kappa Alpha students arrested for marijuana use
Officers arrested five students from Kappa Alpha fraternity Sept. 25 for possession of marijuana.
Officers responded to a call from Baton Rouge Emergency Medical Services about a possible medical emergency at the fraternity house, Scott said.
When officers arrived, no one was aware of any medical problems at the house, Scott said. After a search of the residence, officers found five students sitting in a room with marijuana.
Samuel Selig, 20, of 415 Arrow Field Road, Columbia, S.C.; John Humble, 21, of 2729 Point Drive, Monroe; Bryant Whittington, 21, of 106 Silver Drive, Monroe; Michael Thomson, 19, of 138 Emily Circle, Lafayette; and Thomas Boggs, 21, of 25 Clear Lake Road, Rayville, were arrested and issued misdemeanor summonses, Scott said.
Woman hit by car, sent to hospital with severe injuries
On Sept. 25, 20-year-old Mitchell Northern, of 1545 Rosedale Road, Port Allen, struck a woman with his 1998 Acura Integra.
Sgt. Don Kelly, Baton Rouge Police Department spokesman, said Northern, who is unaffiliated with the University, was on Nicholson Drive when he struck Kelli Richard, 28, of Baton Rouge, who was crossing the street at Nicholson Drive and Nicholson Extension.
Kelly said Northern was not injured, but Richard suffered severe injuries and was transported to Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center by EMS.
No one has been charged at this point, but the investigation is ongoing, Kelly said.
Man arrested for fighting with girlfriend, disturbing the peace
Officers arrested an 18-year-old man unaffiliated with the University on Sept. 18 for cruelty to a juvenile and disturbing the peace by fighting.
Officers arrested Jacob Davis, of 36116 Lynchburg Drive, Denham Springs, for fighting with his 16-year-old girlfriend around 5 p.m., according to Sgt. Blake Tabor, LSUPD spokesman.
Tabor said Davis grabbed the girl by her right arm and hair.
Officers arrested Davis, who was booked in East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
Man arrested for disturbing the peace, pushing, resisting arrest
Officers arrested a 42-year-old man unaffiliated with the University on Sept. 25 for disturbing the peace, intoxication and resisting an officer.
Police responded to a complaint on South Stadium Drive about a man showing up at a tailgating site and pushing people, Scott said.
Police tried to escort Eric Kibbe, of 36416 Manchac Crossing Ave., Prairieville, away from the site, but he pulled away, Scott said.
Kibbe was arrested and issued a misdemeanor summons.
LSUPD officers helped arrest a UPS employee who stole LSU football tickets from the mail and tried to sell them for profit.
Two victims reported Sept. 18 they were turned away as they tried to enter Tiger Stadium because they were suspected of having duplicate tickets, Scott said.
After investigation, police determined the originals had been stolen from UPS by Mitchell James Jr., 12430 Pine Knoll Drive, Houston, who then resold them to other people, Scott said.
Scott said Stafford Police Department in Texas arrested James on Sept. 23 where he was booked and charged with theft of $4,430.
Woman arrested for 23 counts of prohibited narcotics
LSUPD officers arrested Leslie Cook, 23, of 2223 Piedmont Place, Wichita Falls, Texas, for 23 counts of prohibited narcotics Sept. 25.
On Sept. 18, officers searched Cook, unaffiliated with the University, after she tried to enter Tiger Stadium with someone else’s student ID while possessing alcohol, Scott said.
Officers found a pill bottle with multiple controlled dangerous substances, Scott said. Police seized the narcotics and issued a warrant for her arrest.
Police were able to arrest Cook when she tried to enter Tiger Stadium again Sept. 25 with a student’s ID, Scott said. Cook was booked in East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
Man arrested for offensive language outside Tiger Stadium
Officers arrested Philip Provost, 21, of 804 Robert Lee Circle, Lafayette, for disturbing the peace with offensive language, resisting an officer and entering and remaining after being forbidden.
Tabor said officers were working Sept. 18 at the student gates of Tiger Stadium when Provost, unaffiliated with the University, began impeding the flow of pedestrians. When officers tried to get him to move, Provost used vulgar language in front of the large crowd, including children.
When officers tried to handcuff him after he refused to leave, Provost pulled away and tried to flee, Tabor said.
Provost was booked in East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
Man arrested for stealing, selling laptops
Officers arrested a 27-year-old man unaffiliated with the University for two counts of burglary and stealing.
Scott said officers arrested Dexter Washington, of 23440 Marshall St., Plaquemine, on Sept. 21 for trying to sell stolen laptops online.
Washington stole laptops from the College of Music and Dramatic Arts on two separate occasions, along with a set of master keys from a building services employee, Scott said.
Scott said one laptop was recovered, and Washington was booked in East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
Student arrested for stealing iPhones, backpack
Officers arrested 18-year-old Marcus Williams, a University student, of 2047 Upperline St., New Orleans, for four counts of felony Sept. 24.
A student’s backpack was stolen Sept. 23, from The 5 Dining Hall, Scott said, and security cameras were used to identify the suspect.
After searching Williams’ home, officers found three iPhones stolen from the UREC Student Recreational Complex and the majority of the contents of the victim’s backpack, Scott said.
Williams was booked in East Baton Rouge Parish Prison, Scott said.
