I suppose I should thank Emily Kelly. There really aren’t enough people in the world who write things, and articles like this remind people that if you keep thoughts to yourself you’ll never say anything anyone will hear.
First, you can’t cite The Bible as your only source. It’s a neat book, I’m glad we’re all in agreement on that, but many forget that all Jesus did was suggest that people be nice to one another for a change, and would get in a lot of trouble when this included being nice to the outcasts.
Second, you can’t “agree” or “disagree” with homosexuality, just like you can’t agree or disagree with the existence of soup. It’s there, deal with it.
Third, the U.S. government can’t make churches marry gay people. See, there’s church, and there’s state. They’re separate.
Fourth, when you said “I am not a biologist,” I completely agreed with you. Hey, who says we can’t find common ground?
Fifth, by “weighing both sides,” there’s an implicit assumption that the number of sides being weighed will exceed one. It’s just like when someone says you should edit your writing, the implicit assumption is that you will read over your article 1 plus more times.
Thanks for having the stones to say what’s on your mind about the issues, however. I don’t see enough people doing it these days, though next time you probably shouldn’t mention the Supreme Court (who wasn’t involved), the Conservatives (who lost the case) or incorrectly identify what Prop 8 is.
