The National Football League has been sending cease and desist letters to local stores selling T-shirts or other merchandise with the famous Saints phrase ‘Who Dat.’
The NFL claims to own the trademark.
Charlie Melancon, candidate for U.S. Senate, is promoting a petition from Saints fans to the NFL to ‘tell them who the real owners of ‘Who Dat’ are,’ according to an e-mail sent from Melancon’s campaign to The Daily Reveille.
‘We’ll go back to working on political issues in the days to come,’ Melancon said. ‘But for now, I hope we can come together to protect ‘Who Dat’ from anyone who would claim to own it – aside from all of us of course.’ —- Contact Leslie Presnall at [email protected]
