LSU basketball coach Will Wade addressed an alleged recording of a conversation between him and sports agent Christian Dawkins that was played Tuesday during a trial regarding corruption in college basketball.
Wade is reportedly heard telling Dawkins, “Wait, I’ve got to shut the door … I can get you what you need but it’s got to work.”
The two were discussing Balsa Koprivica, a highly rated center in the class of 2019. Koprivica is originally from Serbia but transferred to Montverde Academy in Florida.
SEC Network’s Peter Burns asked Wade about the matter during SEC Basketball Media Days Wednesday afternoon.
“Certainly, I don’t want to react to what a defense attorney said yesterday, but I get it and I understand the judge didn’t let it in,” Wade said. “But what I will say is, I’m very proud of what I’ve done as the LSU basketball coach, and I have never, ever, done any business of any kind with Christian Dawkins.”
Burns followed by asking if Wade felt comfortable with where everything is at, and Wade replied “Yep. Very comfortable.”
