OXFORD, Miss. - The seniors on Senior Night dominated in their last game in Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. Unfortunately for Ole Miss, it was the LSU seniors who shined instead of the hometown Rebels.
No. 1 LSU trounced Ole Miss 52-3 Saturday night to continue their reign as the No. 1 team in the country.
It started on the first drive of the game when senior Ron Brooks returned a Zach Stoudt interception 46 yards for a touchdown. This was Brooks’s second interception return for a touchdown this season.
“We’re deep at defensive back,” said Brooks. “On any given day, anyone of us can make big plays.”
The Tiger defense didn’t look back after Brooks touchdown. The defense held Ole Miss to only 195 total yards of offense.
LSU Senior quarterback Jordan Jefferson started his second straight game for LSU and carried the Tigers offense efficiently.
Jefferson completed all 7 of his attempts for 88 yards and a touchdown. He also led a dominant LSU rushing attack that gained 353 yards on only 50 attempts.
“I finally feel we are clicking on all cylinders,” senior LSU offensive guard Will Blackwell said.
LSU faces the one-loss, No. 6 Arkansas Razorbacks next week. If the Razorbacks beat the Tigers next week and Alabama beats Auburn in the Iron Bowl, the SEC West will be in a three-way tie for first place.
