GRETNA, La. (AP) — A robbery at a suburban New Orleans convenience store turned out to be fake, but eight suspects are facing real legal trouble.
Jefferson Parish Sheriff Newell Normand said in a news release that authorities got a call Sunday evening about an armed robbery. But responding officers arrived to find it was a staged robbery arranged by a store clerk. The clerk, who was among those arrested, said he had arranged for the filming of a music video, not knowing weapons would be involved.
Eight men — ranging in age from 19 to 30 — were booked with criminal mischief. Three were booked with carrying illegal concealed weapons.
The sheriff said Monday that the clerk is also in trouble with the store owner, who had not authorized the activity.
