wanted man arrested
LSU Police arrested Travis Green, of Baton Rouge, on charges of aggravated burglary at the Nicholson Apartments on Friday.
Maj. Lawrence Rabalais, LSUPD spokesman, said officers were dispatched to the apartments at about 11:00 p.m. to investigate a burglary in progress and arrived to find the suspect had left.
While investigating the scene, officers found Green, who matched the description of the burglar and began chasing him.
Officers saw Green drop a .45-caliber automatic during the chase and apprehended him shortly afterward, police said.
Rabalais said the officers ran Green’s name through their warrant database and found that he had five outstanding warrants for his arrest.
Green had a small suitcase of PlayStation games and an Xbox with him at the time of his arrest, and police discovered that the gun Green dropped had been stolen.
In addition to the five warrants for his arrest, Rabalais said Green was charged with aggravated burglary, possession of a firearm in a firearm-free zone, possession of a stolen firearm, possession of burglary tools, criminal trespassing and resisting an officer.
Green was brought and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison, where he is awaiting bail.
Vehicle hits pedestrian after football game
An unidentified female was hit by a vehicle as she crossed Dalrymple Drive at approximately 11:30 p.m. Saturday.
Maj. Lawrence Rabalais, LSUPD spokesman, said the vehicle was turning off East Campus Drive, and the driver was unable to see the pedestrian in the crosswalk.
He said the female pedestrian suffered moderate head and upper torso injuries and had to be transported to Our Lady of the Lake Hospital.
After the driver submitted to a breathalyzer test, officers at the scene determined that the driver was not intoxicated.
Rabalais said the driver’s and the victim’s names have not been released because the accident is still under investigation.
The driver had not been charged with any violations at press time, and Rabalais said it may be several days before the investigating officers determine whether any charges need to be filed.
