Junior point guard Tack Minor has been suspended from the LSU basketball team for the summer and fall semesters for an academic-related infraction of the University’s Code of Student Conduct, coach John Brady said Wednesday in a news release.
“There are certain academic standards at LSU which will not be compromised,” Brady said. “As the coach at LSU, I am going to enforce those standards without exception. Tack has improved in many ways since he has been at LSU, but sometimes as coaches we encounter disciplinary situations concerning our student-athletes that must be made.”
The Athletic Department news release said LSU will not comment further on the suspension because of student privacy issues.
Minor will not be allowed to take part in any activities with the team until after the 2005 fall semester ends in December.
“I take full responsibility for my actions,” Minor said. “I am sorry that I have let down my family, teammates and coaches, and LSU’s fans. I am going to come back ready to help this team, and I am more dedicated than ever to getting my degree from LSU.”
Brady said he is confident Minor will learn a valuable lesson from this, and he believes it will not keep Minor from his goal of graduating from the University.
Minor averaged 28.6 minutes, 10.8 points, 4.6 assists and 3.6 turnovers a game this season for the Tigers.
