Senator to speak at Women’s Center event
Sen. Mary Landrieu will be speaking about her success as a woman of power as part of Women’s History Month in March.
Landrieu, a 1977 graduate of LSU, is currently one of thirteen women in the U.S. Senate.
“We asked Sen. Landrieu to come and speak because she’s a woman from Louisiana whose alma mater is LSU, and she has risen to a position of power in our country,” said Andrea Conque, program coordinator for the Women’s Center, who is sponsoring the event.
Conque said she does not know the exact topic of Landrieu’s speech because of the senator’s busy schedule, but the senator will focus on Women’s History Month. Representatives from Landrieu’s office could not be reached before press time.
Landrieu will speak in the Union Cotillion Ballroom Monday, March 4 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Refreshments will be available after the program.
Conque said the Women’s Center is very excited about Sen. Landrieu’s speech and is grateful the senator could take time out of her schedule to speak at LSU.
“Since Women’s History Month is focused on the history of women on campus, we thought the senator would be a good choice to speak about her success,” Conque said.
