If people lead, leaders will follow
I am writing in response to a letter that was in yesterday’s paper. I young man wrote in saying that he did not understand why people who were in a non-military position were protesting this “war.” The reason we protest is because that is what our country was built on.
If the people never made their voices heard, many policies would never be changed in this country. It is our right to make known to the government how we feel. Just because we are not doing the fighting does not mean that we want you do go do it for us.
The military is OUR military. It is there to preserve our freedoms and protect us from outside invaders. So, then, we will continue to protest as long as we disagree with what the government is doing with OUR military … you are people’s sons, daughters, friends. I hope the man who wrote in understands now, and I wish him a safe journey.
