The popular app TikTok is no longer accessible to users in the United States, as a result of the ban passed by the U.S. Congress and upheld by the Supreme Court.
TikTok has ceased its operations in the U.S. following a law that is forbidding the Chinese company, ByteDance, from operating in the states.
Users attempting to access TikTok received notifications about the ban and the time it will take place. The app has been unavailable and is no longer in Apple or Google App stores in the U.S.
This shutdown has affected approximately 170 million American users and content creators who engage with the platform.
It has been said that the final say over TikTok’s future in the U.S will rely on President-Elect Donald Trump and his decision to keep the app away or get access back for the country. Trump has stated he will give it a time period of 90 days once he takes oath in office.
